I am calling this half of the Soulscream bridge done! I’ve been working on this for a while. There was some planning and diagram making to get me the general shape.

It all started with a couple of laser cut MDF pieces for the frame and some styrene sheets cut for the foundation. The rest is Milliput and Greenstuff built up for the bricks and motifs. The pieces of Azyr floor is from the Large Base details set and the embellishments for old bits from the Empire and stuff from the Stormcast Eternals. I made sure to add some brick details on the underside so it wouldn’t be so smooth.

All I need to do it paint it fittingly. I will be going for magic forces moving pieces together, building the bridge while the spell is being cast.

Been working on this for a while. I cut down on the 4x painting a lot and kept each step to under a minute. Still ended up being over 20mins XD. I will keep trying to expand on my explanations so there isn’t too much dead air.

Eventually, I want a 4K camcorder or at least an updated HD camcorder. The one I have is over 10 years old! I dream of a day where the colours are true and my details crisp.

What will be next?

Originally, these minis were Castigators from the Soul Wars set. There was only 3. So, not only they don’t hit the minimum squad size, I don’t like how they play. Looking through the book, I found I like how the Vanguard-Raptors seem to play. I like the number of shots the Hurricane Crossbows have, in particular.

All I needed were the fronts of hurricane crossbows (plus my custom wolf ornaments) to make this conversion.

I cut off the crossbow limbs, set aside, and flattened down the front. Glue the hurricane crossbow bit to the flattened front. The limbs have ornamentation on the base and tip. I cut those off and glue them to the top and bottom of the crossbow, just behind the front bit. This will make it look like scales of some sort, just nice detailing to make the weapon for interesting. Any gaps should be filled with greenstuff or the like.

The squad leader is holding a bolt for the greatbow. But since she no longer has a great bow I needed to think of something else. I couldn’t think of anything to replace it with, so I added some Stormcast helmet halos to make it some kind of flare/torch/lamp thing.

They only need 3 models to a squad, so we will see if I want to make more of them.

A small batch of Sequitors, most of them with the big hammers.

I got more bits to make 4 more Sequitors with the big hammers so my squads are round off to 4 or 5 minimum-sized squads.

Finished the first half of my Phoenix Guard unit. They are part of the elite forces of my army. They keep their uniforms particularly clean and their armour polished.

Their feathered helmets and magic halberds will make them easier to see since they are just fancy Freeguild Guard. I wanted to go for those shard glass or shard weapons that you’d find in Warhammer Underworlds.

Super excited for more conversions. This one is pretty much a scratch build. Inspired by PaintedByG I thought I would do a Cities of Sigmar themed endless spell too.

I had the arch laser cut and since I made the slope too steep, I decided to go with it. The bridge is going to be one of those fancy bridges with stairs on both sides and a motif in the center. The end of it has pieces of Azyrite flooring that are all broken up. I plan on adding water effects and colour to make it look like magic is pulling pieces in and building the bridge. I’m going to be doing this again for the other half of the spell.

It already looks great and I can’t wait to show you more.

Super proud of making this piece. This is one of 3 chariots I made. Using a Wizkids wagon as the base, the rest is cannibalized parts and polystyrene pieces.

Another fantastic addition to my repertoire of laser cut doodads and trinkets, a 15mm scale modular brick house. It will be the start of the buildings I am designing for playing in Team Yankee/Flames of War, 15mm scale wargames. But since I don’t have Flames of War, it will just be for our Team Yankee Games.

As usual, cut in MDF, I meticulously designed the brick and roofing patterns to relatively fit in the size of the pieces. I still have some work to do as the patterns sometimes don’t translate well into the laser cutter for whatever reason and it skips some lines.

The patterns are scored, the walls and windows cut out. I want to play with the power of the scoring to make the depth shallower. I want to be able to pick out the grout better when I end up painting this.

Looking forward to more iterations of this design. The next thing I am making is a petrol station and a Brick wall.

I’ve always wanted to make custom objective markers, for any game system. This is an objective for my Soviets. I made all those little sandbags and made a swivel for the MG. The narrative for this is it is a small command outpost on the flank of the marching army. The officer is waving down someone off canvas. The brass rod is the base for a Soviet flag that will be flying or drooping.

Group shots. As always, I love the forgeworld models. Lots of detail and cool looking. I have high hopes for Shapeways and the minis they produce. Good detail on the 3d prints.

The Domitar was the highlight for sure. Successfully making conversions like that always makes me feel good.
