I am calling this half of the Soulscream bridge done! I’ve been working on this for a while. There was some planning and diagram making to get me the general shape.

It all started with a couple of laser cut MDF pieces for the frame and some styrene sheets cut for the foundation. The rest is Milliput and Greenstuff built up for the bricks and motifs. The pieces of Azyr floor is from the Large Base details set and the embellishments for old bits from the Empire and stuff from the Stormcast Eternals. I made sure to add some brick details on the underside so it wouldn’t be so smooth.

All I need to do it paint it fittingly. I will be going for magic forces moving pieces together, building the bridge while the spell is being cast.

Been working on this for a while. I cut down on the 4x painting a lot and kept each step to under a minute. Still ended up being over 20mins XD. I will keep trying to expand on my explanations so there isn’t too much dead air.

Eventually, I want a 4K camcorder or at least an updated HD camcorder. The one I have is over 10 years old! I dream of a day where the colours are true and my details crisp.

What will be next?

I have done a handful more of Stormcast Eternals.

A pair of crew for the ballista is done. I like having helmetless Stormcast for my ranged units. I have built the Castigators (soon to be converted Vanguard-Raptors) to have some kind of Empire heads. The bits for them are coming soon and am super excited to see what they will look like.

There are 2 more Sequitors done to complete the 5-man unit. Group pics soon.

The Knight-Incantor is my first leader-type Stormcast. She may go between being an army leader and squad leader. I made sure to keep the magic glow in the eyes and staff.

The resin bases continue to look great. The leaves and moss make them pop a bit and tie each piece together. There’s still a good 20 more models, or so, so once they’re all done, they will be a great sight.

The first of my Stormcast Eternals are now done. Custom bases, helmets, motifs, and hammerhead. With all those fancy bits, I came up with a name for my Stormhost too, Ulric’s Retribution.

The story is my Stormcast are the men and women who fought in the fall of Middenheim and the Old World, true heroes one and all. They were reborn on the anvil with the unique quirk of still worshiping Ulric over Sigmar. They were put together in a Stormhost called Ulric’s Retribution and now fight with the Middenheim Historical Association (Cities of Sigmar Freeguild, name still WIP).

I made several unique helmets and bases that I will be using on all my Stormcast. I also made a hammer head that I will be using to replace all the 2-handed hammers that will be available. I’m most happy with that one, it looks great.

The colour scheme is an alternate version of the Hallowed Knights scheme, adding a bit more black, gold, and off-white to get it closer to my original Middenheim colour scheme.

The group pics are here.

Models are on the tiles for scale. It’s a big board, right? In one corner, the King of Babies. In the other corner, the big weapons of humanity. The Scribe as the ref.

They compete to see who is worthy of bathing in a pool of blood.

The last of the minis are done! These are miscellaneous models from the Iron Weapons sprue. I’m not sure if they even have equipment cards or whatnot associated with them.

Since they are Iron Weapons, I painted them similar to the weapons the Big Game Hunters have and made sure to make the iron cold. There’s some yellow to make the gold accents and the shield gets jade-like motifs.

The 3 survivor characters are now done. 2 Big Game Hunters and a Twilight Cloak.

Each of them did get a bit of a kitbash. The bundle came with a set of iron weapons. The male hunter got a spear, the female hunter is dragging a mace, and the Twilight Cloak got duel axes.

This was also one of my first times using GW contrast paints to give the iron weapons the tint of cold blue as well as the gold accents.

Get it? ARMchair?! Yes.

I have completed the Scribe and his handy bookholder. I went for a similar scheme to the box art. The desaturated turquoise for the arms lets the Scribe be the center of the piece and pop.

This was a particularly exciting model to paint because I used my new Scalecolor Acyrlics for the first time. I have the skin tone set and followed the instructions that came with the set. I haven’t used artist tube acrylics in a long time, and it felt great! Definitely different from your average model paints. I think it turned out great.

I looked up medieval ornate lettering to use on the book. I wanted to do what they used to, so I could make the book more interesting. Since the Scribe looks pensive, I left a page unfinished so it looks like he is still working.

Don’t you think he looks a bit like Bruce Willis?

One of the best models in the Kingdom Death range, the King. From what I gather, he is a being made of babies holding each other, with a bunch of arms that act as zippers.

I imagine the attack sequence being babies launched at the survivors, far deadlier than any bunny rabbit, and then he laughs in baby. A great take on the Knights of Ni. Wholesome yet morbid.

I wanted to make sure I had some texture on the cloak to make it look like tanned hide. There are a bit of tonal variations in the browns. Stippling over the entire thing gives it the texture I want.

It looks great! I added dirt, grass tufts, and a pool of blood.
