The second batch of jetbikes are done! Lots of mud and weathering were added to the bases and bikes so it looks like they’re currently fighting. I’m still loving the narrative of the stone faces with the chain attach. I’m told this battlefield could be the battle for Terra, so the faces could be getting pulled down or blasted off.

I’m in the middle of building the Outriders, so in the mean time I will be painting some Harlequins.

All of the bikes have been built now. I decided to attach the Marines since it didn’t look like too much was obstructed if I glued them in place. Also, they just look so cool.

I am very pleased with how they turned out. Each one is quite unique in that almost all of them have their own weapon/trophy display of some kind, and they’re all attached differently. Very tribal looking.

For the bases, I am continuing the trenchwork/mud theme I had going for the infantry I did earlier. Since the bases are much larger, I can do much more too. I was given stone faces and chain and other random bits, so I put them on. The chains are attached to some of the faces so it looks like some sort of excavation is going on. There are also balsawood catwalks I made for the trenchwork part of the theme.

The brass rods are cut at different heights so the jetbikes look like they are zipping across uneven terrain. Once everything is painted, I will be adding the mud and water effects to complete the aesthetic. I’ve got the catwalks on 4 bases, maybe more are needed?

A couple of Termite Drill halves are done. I did the different colours of the army, Yellow and Red. Slicing Forgeworld models in half is a bit scary at first, but then the bloodthirst sets in and before you know it, resin dust is all over you and there are two halves sitting on the table.

There was a bit of work done to build up the dirt around the hulls too. So it looks like the dirt is being displaced by the Termites going into or out of the ground. I’m particularly pleased with the Termite going into the ground, where the dirt is welling up like a wave in the front. I even used 4 different materials.

Slate pieces and small gravel were used to build up the bulk of the dirt due to the sizes. Small ballast mixed with small pebbles formed the majority of what is covering the base. And finally, fine sand was added to the edges and corners on the tracks and hull so it looks like some is sticking to the vehicle.

I tried to get the weathering a bit more realistic. The Termite coming out has a lot of dirt all over, where the drill going into the ground has more dirt and mud concentrated to the front. The little gun ports on the red Termite are left quite clean since it opens and closes at will, so little dirt would probably get on the guns.

There are two more to go and will also be red and yellow, though they will be full Termites. One of them will have open doors.

A small batch of Sequitors, most of them with the big hammers.

I got more bits to make 4 more Sequitors with the big hammers so my squads are round off to 4 or 5 minimum-sized squads.

I have done a handful more of Stormcast Eternals.

A pair of crew for the ballista is done. I like having helmetless Stormcast for my ranged units. I have built the Castigators (soon to be converted Vanguard-Raptors) to have some kind of Empire heads. The bits for them are coming soon and am super excited to see what they will look like.

There are 2 more Sequitors done to complete the 5-man unit. Group pics soon.

The Knight-Incantor is my first leader-type Stormcast. She may go between being an army leader and squad leader. I made sure to keep the magic glow in the eyes and staff.

The resin bases continue to look great. The leaves and moss make them pop a bit and tie each piece together. There’s still a good 20 more models, or so, so once they’re all done, they will be a great sight.

The group pics are here.

Models are on the tiles for scale. It’s a big board, right? In one corner, the King of Babies. In the other corner, the big weapons of humanity. The Scribe as the ref.

They compete to see who is worthy of bathing in a pool of blood.

Get it? ARMchair?! Yes.

I have completed the Scribe and his handy bookholder. I went for a similar scheme to the box art. The desaturated turquoise for the arms lets the Scribe be the center of the piece and pop.

This was a particularly exciting model to paint because I used my new Scalecolor Acyrlics for the first time. I have the skin tone set and followed the instructions that came with the set. I haven’t used artist tube acrylics in a long time, and it felt great! Definitely different from your average model paints. I think it turned out great.

I looked up medieval ornate lettering to use on the book. I wanted to do what they used to, so I could make the book more interesting. Since the Scribe looks pensive, I left a page unfinished so it looks like he is still working.

Don’t you think he looks a bit like Bruce Willis?

They have their backpacks and shoulder pads on now, so these guys are officially complete. 4 Plasma gunners and a bunch of definitely-not-Primaris Assault Marines. I made sure to add the blood effects to the shoulder pads as appropriate.

Finally finished my first full unit for this army. 6 stands of Men-at-arms marching along a brick road, trampling a small flower bed. No mercy when one is parade ready.

The command stand consists of the leader, banner, and a couple of soldiers with an alternate shield design.

Super proud of making this piece. This is one of 3 chariots I made. Using a Wizkids wagon as the base, the rest is cannibalized parts and polystyrene pieces.
