The first of my Stormcast Eternals are now done. Custom bases, helmets, motifs, and hammerhead. With all those fancy bits, I came up with a name for my Stormhost too, Ulric’s Retribution.

The story is my Stormcast are the men and women who fought in the fall of Middenheim and the Old World, true heroes one and all. They were reborn on the anvil with the unique quirk of still worshiping Ulric over Sigmar. They were put together in a Stormhost called Ulric’s Retribution and now fight with the Middenheim Historical Association (Cities of Sigmar Freeguild, name still WIP).

I made several unique helmets and bases that I will be using on all my Stormcast. I also made a hammer head that I will be using to replace all the 2-handed hammers that will be available. I’m most happy with that one, it looks great.

The colour scheme is an alternate version of the Hallowed Knights scheme, adding a bit more black, gold, and off-white to get it closer to my original Middenheim colour scheme.

The first of my custom Stonework bases molded and casted. I added a black wash so the details can be seen. They are looking good. Next set is being molded now. My Stormcast are going to look so good.

Super excited for more conversions. This one is pretty much a scratch build. Inspired by PaintedByG I thought I would do a Cities of Sigmar themed endless spell too.

I had the arch laser cut and since I made the slope too steep, I decided to go with it. The bridge is going to be one of those fancy bridges with stairs on both sides and a motif in the center. The end of it has pieces of Azyrite flooring that are all broken up. I plan on adding water effects and colour to make it look like magic is pulling pieces in and building the bridge. I’m going to be doing this again for the other half of the spell.

It already looks great and I can’t wait to show you more.

Super proud of making this piece. This is one of 3 chariots I made. Using a Wizkids wagon as the base, the rest is cannibalized parts and polystyrene pieces.

Finally, the little humies get part of a battletome, and a cool one too! Now that I have access to a laser cutter, I thought it was high time to rebase my old Empire army. I designed a cobblestone texture and had it engraved onto MDF, then cut into different sizes.

Slowly but surely, there will be many more rebased. Maybe I’ll even get new minis for this army. I have been eyeing Demigryphs since they first came out.

Since I am a puritan, all my units will be human. I don’t want elves or dwarfs. My old engineers will be the new Cogsmiths. Maybe my Warpriests will be my Runelords if I want a Greywater Fastness army.

After a couple years, I’ve finally completed another warband for Warhammer Underworlds. Just in time for the second season to be released. Averon is the same Averon I entered into the Crystal Brush competition at Adepticon 2019, and ended up making the first cut (yay!).

I continued with the NMM gold scheme with the rest of the unit. Though the rocks on the base ended up a different colour than Averon. Maybe I’ll go back and make him compliant.

I think I will play in a couple Underworlds tournaments at the local GW with the Stormsires to get some mileage, but they are in my first 1000 points of my Cities of Sigmar Freeguild Hallowheart army. Keyword shenanigans can make them part of the warscroll battalion with other wizards, love it.

A couple stragglers I happened to remember. Dwarf Lord is done as a center-piece level. It’s still in pewter and the classic pose that makes this model great looking. I wanted to make the squig a different colour than the rest, so it is purple.

Entering my second competition of the year (first was Adepticion 2019 Crystal Brush) the Everchosen Painting Competition from Games Workshop. The first round is done by vote at all participating GW stores. So, I entered my rendition of the Idoneth Deepkin Ahkelian King from Age of Sigmar.

The scheme for the steed was inspired by the colours of Mantis Shrimp. I went for very vibrant blue, red, and green. The King got gold armour, similar to Aquaman Atlantian soldier armour. His weapons were painted bone with maroon shading, and some gloss varnish for that seashell effect.

The part that was different from my norm was having clear resin and water effects. From the start, I wanted some of the mini to be submerged in water, preferably shallow ocean water so I could have that movement of waves and possibly some interesting scenery in the resin.

The rock is, in fact, a painted rock, but the sand underneath was sculpted with filler and then painted. I added waves to the sand for that underwater realism. The bubbles were both intentional and unintentional. I wanted bubbles to form somewhere, I just didn’t expect them to form perfectly from under the rock. Finally, the waves were done with thicker, sculptable water effects. Some parts were done in layers to get the movement of the waves and splashes of the tail more realistic. It was then thinly painted (so you can still see a bit underneath) to give the effect of water splashing and breaking.

Takeaways:
– Don’t make a competition piece your first time doing clear resin
– white glue does not properly seal anything against resin
– do something with large open areas like the cape

Good luck and good job to everyone that entered!

Progress on the commission. I think this is the last of the Frostgrave scatter terrain… and Goblins, now that I think about it.

More progress!

A handful of scatter terrain for Frostgrave. This comes in the form of pieces of a market. Various baskets and bags of food, boxes, bricks, and bottles. I am particularly fond of the apples and squash. Adding different colours makes them interesting to look at.

Night Goblin archers were done. I transferred them onto circle bases to for Age of Sigmar compatibility.

Lastly, the Warboss in Mega-armour. This mini is the Iron Boss from Artel W Collectible Miniatures. A fantastic looking piece with plenty of detail.
