Sometimes the Cities of Sigmar get some love. This time, some of the army’s leaders have been painted, just in time for the next edition to come out.
The Adjutant is a good buddy of the general and also carries around a hero’s head on a stick for advice. I find that wonderful. The stud muffin of an Alchemist Warforger, brings along a stewing pot and fancy cubes. The new Cities models are so full of character and was the much needed update to the range. The cobblestone is looking good. I got a textured roller to do the bases for this army, as I do not have as much access to a laser cutter anymore, and I think they turned out very well.

The new starter set came out some time ago and I have finally painted 2 models in it. I wanted to pick one of the more unique models in the unit, the Battle Priests. They look like they are bringing some small relics with them, making sure the faith in Sigmar is kept up properly.
My old Middenhiem colour scheme on the new models looks great. Though these particular models don’t have as many doodads the old State Troopers had, the detail on the new models is more crisp and the hands aren’t as poofy, they still maintain the charm I look for in regular humans up against supernatural horrors. Great update.
The first round of rebasing used MDF engraved cobblestone. But, now that I don’t have as ready an access to a laser cutter, I am using a texture roller with Greenstuff and gluing a cutout on top of a plastic base. How does it look? I think it works.
Priming is currently being done on the KDM project. Updates soon!

The second battery is complete, finishing the unit. My first 10th ed Astra Militarum unit, and first unit since my converted Manticore unit the new colour scheme. It all looks fantastic and I am looking forward to redoing more of the older models.
Craftworld Saim-Hann Aeldari Commission Update #20 – The Avatar of Khaine February 18, 2024

The final piece of the Aeldari commission is complete, the Avatar of Khaine marches to war. There are a lot of textures I tried to simulate in this piece. The most noticeable being the NMM armour and fire.
I tried to get deep NMM red armour to work with fire and a red cloth by making the texturing different. Normally highlighting these areas would have made the whole model look flat or just one big blob of red. By differing the textures, I am hoping that that high contrasting armour would look quite a bit different to the softer crosshatching highlighting I did to the cloth, versus a more linear transition I took to the fire’s different colours.
The gold, leather straps, and hair all use warm greys, and so should fit in with the reds without standing out too much, and will still break up the reds. The biggest contrasting parts are the sword and gems, which are green. I went with NMM green sword and regular green gems.
And that concludes the Avatar. I still want to take group photos of the whole army. Next commissions, Kingdom Death and Space Marines.
Craftworld Saim-Hann Aeldari Commission Update #17 – Autarch and Weapon Platforms January 27, 2024

The Autarch and 2 remaining weapon platforms are done. This will complete the Guardian squad and bring in a general to the army.
I find the decals with the black stripes behind them make the design so sharp and clean. Since starting this commission, I am considering doing more lore-common armies so I have decals to work with. But the satisfaction of custom designing decals and having them printed also makes for an army all the more unique.
The Autarch looks so sharp in all his different weapon combinations and his flag backpack. I actually tried to make the black stripes angled so it would match the little double diamond angles. Hopefully that helps make the decal fit in with the flag, as if it were actually produced with the design of the flag.
All that’s left in the commission is the Avatar. Very exciting!

My first mobile artillery piece is done. I decided to finish the Field Gun first since I like the style and it’s part of the combat patrol. I have magnetized the weapon options and am confident each one will look great all together on the base.
I got custom decals done by ImpatientTabletop on Etsy, all white deer icons in varying sizes. Though I do consider it expensive, the quality looks great and it was easy to use. Since starting the Saim-Hann commission, I got to use way more decals that I usually do, so I have taken a liking to the possibilities that are out there.
The Seaforth Highlanders’ regimental flag has a deer on it so I thought putting the simpler icon on the models would look good. I think I’ll try the more complex flag imagery on the command squad flag, freehand.
I am very happy with how this turned out and look forward to the second Ordnance model and the rest of the army.

Here are the last of the Guardians and their special weapons. They just have their weapon platforms to get finished and then I will start on the Autarch.
