Finally finished another painting tutorial. Due to software getting ahead of my hardware, editing is now much slower than it used to. But, it’s done. In this one, I am experimenting with GW’s Nihilakh Oxide Technical paint. Trying to emulate oxidized iron, I think it looks great.

Finally got around to paintingĀ this for my brother. This Warmachine Cryx Helljack has magnetized pieces for the three options. I Tried out Games Workshop’s Oxide technical paint on top of Warplock Bronze. Looks great, very convincing. Those technical paints are fantastic. The Slayer build is also the subject of my painting tutorial that I am currently editing up. Unfortunately, due to dated technology, it is taking much longer than usual :( Oh well, on to the next piece!

Another of my own models. This is a custom Astra Militarum Manticore tank that I made back in 5th edition Guard. Before Manticores were cool. I’ve been thinking of redoing my Guard for sometime now and have decided to go for an Armageddon Steel Legion colour scheme, at least for the tanks. At the very least, I want to make my guardsmen look like they’ve been painted by someone with some more skill than when I first started.

After years of having this piece of terrain floating around, I finally finished it. With an airbrush. Absolutely love it. Where was airbrushing all my life. It was just intimidating learning a new tool, but now it appears very doable with these results. I have a custom Astra Miitarum Manticore just about complete that I want to show off as well!

The Rohan Royal Guard and Erkenbrand are done. And that concludes this commission. Lots of gold trim and gold bits to denote their superior pay grade when compared to the Helmingas. Erkenbrand has his horn. All looking good. I also put tufts of grass in the cracks of the cobblestone so it looks like the streets need a little maintaining. Like most of the quaint villagesĀ of Middle Earth.

Here are the last bit of this commission. Two Helbrutes. These followed the scheme of a Necrosius conversion I did in a previous commission. The heads of the Helbrutes have been replaced by Grey Knight Terminator heads. They fit pretty well, in my eyes. Looks good, feels good to finish.

One half of the alternative Lord of the Rings commission is complete. Rohan Helmingas with Grimbold (two-handed axe) attachment. Models are from Gripping Beast Plastics. The fur cloaks are from Maxminis. The cloaks took forever as I needed to heat up the resin to bend the cloaks for fitting. And then I sculpted straps for the cloaks so they look like they are actually attached to the model rather than floating on it. The shields look great too, lots of character in these models. Next up, Rohan Royal Guard.

I forgot to take pictures of them before I started painting them. But they are built and being painted. I have been given very detailed instructions on how to paint and build them (awesome). The Helbrutes in the background are a part of another commission.
These guys are Rohan soldiers. The ones with the fur cloaks are Helmingas with Grimbold. The ones with the dark green cloaks are Rohan Royal Guard with Erkenbrand.
Models are from Gripping Beast Plastics. Very good standins for LotR models.

Quick, unedited pictures. Needed to clean up for family, so I don’t have my box set up for pictures :(
The zombies are done. All undead looking. Before the weekend is done, I shall have better looking pictures!
