The Broadside and accompanying drones are now done. His primary weapons are magnetized and painted.

I thought I did this scheme in a clever way. The ochre colour I have is a little too yellow for me and all my oranges are too orange. I ended up painting it all in the ochre colour and then glazing the whole area in transparent orange. That way, the orange warms up the ochre to the tone I was looking for. The highlights I kept as bright yellow to hopefully convey the hard material of the battlesuit.

The shield drones also follow a similar scheme. I also gave their midsection a bit of a glow as if they are radiating their shield auras.

I am pleased to show off my first of three converted Scourgerunner Chariots, finally painted. Some time ago, I put together three of these as my rendition of the Cities of Sigmar Scourgerunner Chariot. I game terms, the chariot is supposed to be a Drukhari/Dark Elf/Privateer model, but I made mine aesthetically human. Specifically, in my Middenheim blue/white colour scheme and Freeguild design.

For the other non-human units in the army book, what kind of scratchbuilds or conversions can I do on the monsters that could follow the Freeguild/human aesthetic? I’m looking into possible clockwork/steampunk works or several guardsmen in hydra hide for my initial ideas.

Another six riders are done. I like to alternate the patterns between each model to make the scheme more interesting. I haven’t glued any of them on, but I can still show them off riding the jetbikes with their buddies.

It certainly has been a hot minute since my last post on these guys, but rest assured, I have not forgotten about them. Today, I have a few pictures on some Phoenix Guard and an Anointed I’m putting together.

These are the last of the Phoenix Guard that I built up, though I still want another 6 to round off the unit to 20 models. As you may have noticed, I don’t use actual Phoenix Guard for the base of the minis. They are either old metal full plate Empire models or Greatsword legs with Knightly Order bodies and a mix of arms to hold a mix of different halberds.

As for the Anointed, I didn’t actually plan to make one for my army, just happy using my Freeguild General. But as I play the army, I am liking the Phoenix Guard more and more and though I should add one for more composition options. I had an extra pair of legs from my Hurricanum, then put it with Knightly Order bits for that power pose. The weapon is a High Elf great axe attached to a brass rod. Hopefully that represents a halberd well enough. Then, the greenstuff happened.

I have a small mold for doing chainmail I got from Greenstuff World that I used to do the mail skirt. I added in riding skirts, a belt, made his shoes armoured, and spruced up the shaft of the weapon. I added some teeth to the helmet and a wolf motif on the axe to keep up my Middenheim theme.

Further progress on the bikes. I have the riders on them. There’s still 4 jetbikes that need paint on them, but these are the 8 that I am painting in this batch. Most of them are the passenger, so the driver is still on my paint table.

The white is so bright that it’s hard to take pictures of these. These are going to make people do a doubletake when they walk by the battlefield.

Showing off the progress I’m making on the Jetbikes. The bodies of the bikes are done, so I need to finish highlighting the noses and paint the guns, then of course, the riders.

The diamonds were done by using an airbrush on a stencil from Fallout Hobbies, then fixing any bleed that went through.

My second Venator is now complete. This will now complete my entire (small) Republic fleet. I will still be looking at other ships they come out with in the future, but I am most anticipating a new squad pack. Though I might just get the first squad pack just to have more Arc-170s and Aethersprites.

I was inspired by a post online of a SPHA-T conversion to do it on my own Venator. The SPHA-T is an upgrade for the ship, giving it a fancy powerful laser to use in battle. This conversion makes it very easy to see which of my Venators has the upgrade. I used a 40k vehicle corner bit as the base, a turret from a Team Yankee British vehicle, and a bunch of miliput to make the gun.

The tone of the white is quite a bit brighter than my other Venator. I’d like to think it’s because they were commissioned at different times during the Clone wars.

These last ten Seekers complete the squad and the last of the White Scars. What a journey!

This was a nice, large project featuring a variety of figures and lots of unique bits. I got to paint Horus Heresy vehicles, flyers, and a completely themed Space Marine army that I got to see through from start to end. And let’s not forget the Orks and Mechanicum who got some love in this commission as well.

The next commission is Harelquins and their diamond patterns.

Update: all the Destroyers now have at least a pair of grenades. Some are painted like the Rad grenades a couple Seekers have.

The first half of the Seekers are done. I think these are the only true infantry I’ve done for the White Scars. Everyone else has been either on a bike, with a jump pack, or was a robot. Some daggers, pistols, and grenades have been added as well. They are looking quite formidable. 10 more to go.

The other 5 models in this units are done. One of them is the sergeant with a power halberd. The body was originally an Imperial Fist torso with an insignia. I filed it off and sculpted on the Roman numeral instead. I think it blends in well and looks great.

All that’s left is a block of 20 Seekers.
