It’s great to see a batch complete. Since the last update, the 6 riders and all the weapons were completed as well. As a finishing touch, the windows were detailed. I am always impressed with the magnetization on these. The ball magnet allows for articulation and the tiny magnets are well placed to fit the riders.

Now it’s time for infantry.

The main bodies of the Star Weavers are done. Just the magnetized crew and cannons are needed to complete the models.

Technically, these might be more at home with an updated Orange Diamond Harlequins post, these came with the Eldar (though a bit later), so I’m keeping the pictures in the same commission.

We are back to painting diamonds with an airbrush on vehicle hulls. I sometimes have the foresight to record what I use in my colour schemes and this time it has certainly paid off. They are from the same client who painstakingly magnetized a bunch of weapons, the Star Weavers, and bases. The bases have resin chunks of Eldar themed flooring and there are a bunch of troupers to do too.

They’re all done, done I say! Pictures needed to be done on the kitchen table because I don’t have enough room for all of them on my desk. There’s only like 50 or 60 minis in the commission, but all the magnetized options really increased the time it took by quite a bit! But I didn’t do the assembly on this one. All the basework was made of chunks of plastic Eldar flooring. Almost all the models have been magnetized and/or converted in some way. The bikes and Star Weavers are on ball magnets so you can rotate them as you want.

I put on all the riders for the vehicles and bikes. Most of them are not glued on or they are magnetized to keep them in place. The windows on the Star Weavers haven’t been glued on, but they can still show off the pilot I painted on the inside. Part of the challenge in painting the diamond design in different sizes is to make the layout relatively consistent even though they are being painted on different sized models. I really wanted there to be a center column of diamonds to anchor the design across all the models. I think it came out fantastic.

For all the infantry, it was a combination of diamond and vein designs on their chest, arms, and legs. Since they are orange as well, it looks like they are a lava or fire scheme. I felt like the scheme needed a small pop of blue and you can see traces of it on the different models. Either as a weapon and grenades, the baby blue colour really comes out and pops against the black and orange of the rest of the model. Some of the models have cloaks and I made them a dark blue and grey to add contrast against the orange. Those ones, I think, get more depth to their black as a result. Even though there are a few varieties to the same scheme in the army, the models are so dynamic and unique, I think it would have looked out of place if the models were too “same-y”.

The characters are pretty unique. A bunch of them are converted and look great. You can see a couple of them were kitbashed.

Look at all those extra arms to equip the troupers how you want!

I have finally got around to doing group shots of the completed jetbikes.

The past few stream sessions I was working on other stuff, but I haven’t forgotten about the Harlequins. I did all the bases for the infantry. The characters will be done separately, but the regular troupers get to be part of this batch.

The last of the jetbikes are now done. Here are the final 6 models, complete with their riders. The riders haven’t been

Further progress on the bikes. I have the riders on them. There’s still 4 jetbikes that need paint on them, but these are the 8 that I am painting in this batch. Most of them are the passenger, so the driver is still on my paint table.

The white is so bright that it’s hard to take pictures of these. These are going to make people do a doubletake when they walk by the battlefield.

One more Star Weaver crew was done, but the star of this post is the Jetbike. Set on a sphere magnet, like the Star Weavers, the jetbike is looking nimble and floaty. The underslung weapon and the riders aren’t glued on.

The last of the Star Weavers are done. I haven’t done enough of the crew to man all of them yet, so I’ll take another set of group pics when they’re done. I’m very impressed with the sphere magnets and the joints they fit into. I would have thought the vehicles would be swerving around as they’re moved, but the friction holds them pretty well together.

The stencil I used for most of the diamonds started to break apart so I got another one and I think it made it easier to keep the diamonds looking like diamonds on the rounded surface.

Progress on the Harlequins is slow but still going. The third Star Weaver is now done. I’m particularly proud that I’ve managed to keep the diamonds in mostly the same spots as previous ones and the colour transition is nice and smooth.
