Starting off the next regiment of knights, I adjusted the colour scheme to match a regiment of Men-at-arms I did earlier. One more stand and that will complete the minimum regiment.

I got around to finishing the last stand for my first regiment of Knights. Red and white for this. I’ll be trying other colours for the other units of Knights.

While waiting for coats of Mod Podge to dry for the Normandy model, I got to painting my Bretonnians. I finished a stand of knights and a unit of Men-at-arms in an alternative colour scheme.
The banner designs are freehand. I thought about making stencils, but I’m doing different designs on each flag, so I don’t see it being too useful. I’m going for a common colour scheme between units that I would thematically keep together as a brigade, then have different schemes for different brigades.

I was asked to do a few more pieces in the army, particularly some of the reference models. The Black Knight steeds were to be updated with the clean bone, the mounted vampire was to be given a shield, the reference skeleton was to be updated, and the skeleton standard bearer was to have a simple freehand on the banner. They all now tie very nicely together with the rest of the army.

I have finished the Vampire Counts commission. Black Coach, Skeletons, Black Knights, fixing a few models, and replacing a flag pole with a brass rod.
I found the Black Coach to be a very interesting piece to paint. I was surprised that the amount of detail that was put into it, and it is a metal model.
The skeletons rank up fairly well. There are a few outliers that are slightly harder to make conform, most configurations seem to fit nicely though.
I just love it. Assembly line painting and detailed work, both make my jolly counters go up. I love seeing a nice big block of models come together and I love making a single model a labour of love. Cheers!

The Black Knights are complete. There is the other half of the squad, but this update shall show what models I completed. Added some fancy rust to the models. Next…is the skeletons of infinite numbers!

I am well on my way on this commission. I have finished building the models, fixing pieces, and replacing weapons. The skeletons are in three nice blocks of 20. The Black Coach, I believe, I will have the coffin open inside the carriage.
Well, off to priming and then the longest part. Painting 🙂

Working hard and getting things done. I have set up a bunch of the models to be ready for painting, before being fully assembled. The Black Coach, especially.
I have created a base for the Black Coach and its steeds. It spans the whole footprint of the model for extra stability when picking it up. The base and model will be painted before I put it together. The Skeletal Steeds for the 4 black knights have been based and glued down. The shields for the knights are ready to be prepared. I have replaced the standard pole with a brass rod, I will be fixing up the model with a little paint. The spirit host has been fixed.
The Vampire has his sword glued on again, the wolves have their pieces put back together, and the Skeletons are slowly making their way to completion. I am currently replacing their spears with hand weapons. Shields will be added as well.

I have been given a Warhammer Fantasy Vampire Counts force to build and paint. All of these models are quite old, back before Finecast and the box redesigns. Back when skeletons came in a box of 20. A simple time.
This order consists of a Black Coach, 4 Black Knights, and 60 skeletons to be built and painted. There is also a Battle Standard Bearer to have a brass rod replace the pole, and a couple wolves, a spirit host, and a vampire that need fixing up.
All counted up and nicely lined up to be given life.
