I have finally finished a minimum unit of Crossbowmen. I think I bit off more than I should have chewed on with this army. I quickly built up over 2000 points and casted a couple dozens stands with bases to get my brick promenade theme. Though this is very cool, it turned into an intimidating project. Sometimes I forget which mini goes in which stand and I end up setting up the army and get lost in its grey and primed splendor.

A small update on the 100 Kingdoms. 2 models done for the Crossbows. It just leaves 4 more minis to complete a regiment, plus the stands.

In preparation for a game I had over the long weekend, I finally made the time to base a bunch of my army and painted this Household Knight.
The scheme for my Hundred Kingdoms army is Knights of the Blazing Sun from old warhammer fantasy. So, bronze armour with yellow and black clothing and sun motifs. I added the red and white stripes on the shield as a nod to Sir Galahad colors. I plan to paint a knight after each knight of the round table.
Like my Noble Lord, I have this knight galloping through water. I tried to make it look like running water and move it with the horse hooves. I want to make more kinds of cavalry bases. Maybe some with brick or a riverbed.

Finally finished my first full unit for this army. 6 stands of Men-at-arms marching along a brick road, trampling a small flower bed. No mercy when one is parade ready.
The command stand consists of the leader, banner, and a couple of soldiers with an alternate shield design.

My army leader is done. The Noble Lord on horseback. I plan on getting one on foot too.
Going with my promenade theme, my cavalry will actually be galloping through water, like the Noble Lord. I’ve also done a tutorial for this guy!

I present, the Conquest. It was quite a pain to put together, particularly the legs, but I think it turned out quite well. More of the mud slush basing. I made an imprint in the snow behind the Colossal to give it more of an “in-the-world” feel, as it strides on the slushy battlefield. I also painted the Khador symbol on the base of the Conquest and tried my hand at some more weathering. Minor, single line scratches, to paint scraped or burned away at the arm guards.

Getting started on this army. The assembly is complete. We have eSorscha, eIrusk, a couple solos, Black Dragon Pikemen, Winter Guard, 2 Warjacks, and a Conquest. I am looking forward to these being painted.
With all that pewter about, I have pinned many of the pieces on quite a few of the models that could handle it. And those legs of the Conquest were quite the feat to put together. But it is done.
These models will also have custom muddy slush bases of which I have done another test base. A dark mud with crushed glass snow. I am not sure which one to go with, but it will be one of the crushed glass bases. I think I am leaning towards the dark mud base.
