Could this be it? The Normandy is complete? The detailing ended up being the red windows along the middle of the hull and the black lines all across the hull to make it looks like the ship has armour panels. I tried to slightly shade within those panels to make them look a bit 3D rather than lines I painted on after blocking in the main colours.

I added intake ports on the top and bottom of the ship, I assume they are some kind of intake port. Since they aren’t part of the printed model, I needed to paint them on freehand. Though I made a stencil to use for each one to make them as similar as possible. Hopefully they come out a bit 3D looking.

The stand is another 3D printed piece with a magnet in it. I painted it black so it might blend in with space backgrounds.

I was asked to add some lettering to the engines for some last details. Now I will be sealing this model for protection and sending it to its forever home.

The next step on the Normandy is in progress. I have finally gotten the yellow strips to where I want them. I spent a painting session adding in the red squares for the window lights. I will be brightening the windows to yellow or orange and then bring it back with a few washes. I want the red glow to be much darker and the pin pricks of light to really stand out.

This is one of the larger models I have gotten the chance to work with. First rounds of cleaning was a lot of sanding and adding a bit of filler to get those striations as minimal as I can. After that, I primed the model in black and white, in generally the areas I wanted. There are a lot of angles in the design of the colour scheme for the Normandy, so masking was necessary. I did the black first, so now I’m masking that to do the white.

The scheme with the yellow splashes has more of a warmer white, so I will be going for that when I build up the layers. I have to admit, I made a mistake in doing the yellow strip in the front. It’s supposed to zig and zag, but I only made it zag. I will have it fixed after I finish the white.

Just wanted to show off what the army is looking like so far. The infantry is done, so next is the knights and light cavalry. The painted models so far are 3 units of Men-at-arms, a trebuchet, and 2 stands of heroes.

The final unit of Men-at-Arms is done for my first 1000 points of army that has been printed. There will eventually be brigades worth of men-at-arms, but for now we will continue on painting knights.

This third unit I decided on a different colour scheme, yellow and turquoise. It’s definitely a different scheme than what I have done on many other models, including Harlequins. Turquoise being an uncommon colour in my repertoire.

Finished a bit more of the Warmaster Bretonnians.

The Green Knight hero is accompanied by a winged hussar from Pendraken. I went for the ethereal green like in total war warhammer and gave a bit of a glow to the Green Knight. I painted the Hussar in the traditional red scheme with a leopard pelt. I also got these scale paper Polish flags and attached one. I think the theme is starting to come together.

The first stand of men-at-arms is done. I plan on doing different cloth colors for different regiments, but this one will be in Polish red and white.

I’ve been radio silent for a while now, and this is why. I’ve been working on smoothing out step lines from these 3D printed board tiles. Now, I am excited to show off the fruits of just over half the labour.

Since these are printed from a filament printer, the layer lines are quite obvious. I used UV curable resin to smooth the steps. Since that’s all done, they are now ready to be painted.

I’m excited to see it all done.

Shapeways has done a wonderful job in the space ship miniatures. No flash, no mold lines, no stepping. I don’t plan on testing durability though.

Ork Megadread looks amazing. As expected. I added plenty of weathering and stains for the Orkish character.

The terrain has been shown love. I went with what I did for the last set of terrain pieces. These are also 3D printed, which look amazing. Since I could see the stepping in the pieces, I decided I needed to smooth out the vines that were on the stone pieces. I have some liquid resin that I applied, when it dried, it make the vines nice and rounded. Much more natural than the stepping texture.

As for the animal corpses, there might be some more browns needed in the fur to help separate it from the base.
