The Imperial Officer for my Hundred Kingdoms army is done and with 2 pieces of furniture that serve as his retinue. I’ve done so much NMM on this mini and I haven’t done this much NMM in a long time, and I am happy with how it turned out!

The tiny table and weapons rack are hand made using balsa wood and styrene. All three of them are magnetized and the base has 4 spots that can take magnets, so I can rearrange the display as I want. I need more ideas for furniture/features for the retinue, so far it’s a chest, a squire, a kneeling stool, and an altar

The first Steel Legion regiment is now done. I have another set of 3 stands to paint to make a fat 6-stand regiment of my elite heavy infantry. I’m still deciding to work on a character or a different regiment like Household Guard or Gilded Legion.

I am aware of the irony in painting the STEEL Legion in gold, and probably painting the Gilded Legion in a slightly different scheme. I think I want to add more black to the Gilded Legion scheme to help make them stand out in the army. Though I’m sure the very long spears they have will probably be enough to do so.

I would describe the golden full plate as resplendent, they are such a shiny walking blender and they should be dressed in their best! I got variety of tiny flowers to add to my bases, so I gave some pizzazz to my bases. Do you like my tiny garden?

My colour scheme for the army is gold, yellow, and black. It wasn’t until I got to painting these that I needed to think on if I wanted to continue the scheme or make an exception. Before I remembered there’s a unit called Gilded Legion, I already committed to my scheme. I’ll compromise by adjusting the other unit’s colour scheme.

These are the first 5 models for the regiment. I did most of the bases too. I want more minis done before I add on the flowers and grass.

I forgot to get a paint I needed to the Oroshan Dreadnought, so while waiting for the next day to go shopping, I got to painting a Knight of mine for my Hundred Kingdoms army. I am going through the Knights of the Round table and this time, I have chosen Sir Palomydes for the checkered pattern of his banner.

Like all my bases for the army, it is cast in resin and magnetized. I like having the thickness from hand-poured resin into a mold so when I do magnetize, the magnet is flush with my base. On the horse bases, I have them racing in a shallow river or creek with rocks and a current flicking about, made with a thick paste-like water effect. I will diversify the base look for different units of cavalry, but my first regiment will be in the river this time.

I finally got around to painting the last few models for the next 3 stands to expand the regiment. Now I have a six-stand regiment to play around with. They will probably be used as 1 or 2 separate 3 stand units in game.

I have finally finished a minimum unit of Crossbowmen. I think I bit off more than I should have chewed on with this army. I quickly built up over 2000 points and casted a couple dozens stands with bases to get my brick promenade theme. Though this is very cool, it turned into an intimidating project. Sometimes I forget which mini goes in which stand and I end up setting up the army and get lost in its grey and primed splendor.

A small update on the 100 Kingdoms. 2 models done for the Crossbows. It just leaves 4 more minis to complete a regiment, plus the stands.

This is a very exciting piece to show off my progress on. I carefully filled in and sanded out a center hole in a normal stand to make a mold of what I will be using for character stands in this army. I hand laid the bricks on this and magnetized the quadrants. Why do this you ask? To attach tiny furniture.

In Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings, the characters get their own stands like the unit they are attached to, but they can be upgraded with a retinue instead of taking on the models from the unit the have been embedded with. Some people put them in a regular base as if they were part of the unit, some people make display bases. I am making tiny furniture that represents the retinue that I can add or take off as needed. The first pieces I have done are a tiny table and a weapons rack. The table is going to have a map on it.

I also decided to go a bit further and try my hand at NMM, after a very long time not practicing it. I think my blends still hold up and the lighting is pretty good, but I am still encountering the issue of colour. I am never sure what I want to add to get the tone I am looking for. I want to go for the reddish brass I have for the rest of my army, but right not it’s pretty much gold. I think I need more orange. So far, i just have most of the highlights, the shading hasn’t been touched yet.

In preparation for a game I had over the long weekend, I finally made the time to base a bunch of my army and painted this Household Knight.

The scheme for my Hundred Kingdoms army is Knights of the Blazing Sun from old warhammer fantasy. So, bronze armour with yellow and black clothing and sun motifs. I added the red and white stripes on the shield as a nod to Sir Galahad colors. I plan to paint a knight after each knight of the round table.

Like my Noble Lord, I have this knight galloping through water. I tried to make it look like running water and move it with the horse hooves. I want to make more kinds of cavalry bases. Maybe some with brick or a riverbed.

Finally finished my first full unit for this army. 6 stands of Men-at-arms marching along a brick road, trampling a small flower bed. No mercy when one is parade ready.

The command stand consists of the leader, banner, and a couple of soldiers with an alternate shield design.
