I have completed more of my Black Diamond force. This batch includes three Suspect 7 and a Sophia Drake.

I tried to loosely follow colour schemes for the skins of Akali from League of Legends. But I think they look more like the ninja women from Mortal Kombat. The one in yellow has a 7 on her clothing, so now she has a soccer jersey haha. All the ninjas have water effects on their bases, making them garden themed.

Sophia Drake looking great. I made her armour more on the warmer side that is complemented by the bricks on her base.

Almost done, just Iron Chef and Leopold to go!

I have completed the Republique of France Mobile Airfield. This was a neat model to paint with all the details like the flyers on the runway. Those gave a good narrative element to the model.

Last weekend was painting time for Relic Knights. Looking sexy. Did some OSL on the tank from the muzzle flash. I also have some water effects going on with the infantry. I wanted to go for more of a Starship Trooper vibe, but then they somewhat deviated from my vision XD. Finally, my little cat familiar (Static?) is Espeon flexing its power. I can’t wait until everything else is done :)

I think I will come back to the cat. I want the power markings to be brighter and more vibrant.

Almost done the Republique of France commission. Completed all the small tank tokens, infantry tokens, and the rest of the medium tanks. Just have Fighter tokens, land ships, and a mobile airfield to go :) Dystopian Wars is such a neat universe. I will get into it sometime in the future… eventually :P

I have finished these babies as a prototype scheme for the rest of the army. I followed closely to the box art of this faction: a cool grey undercoat layered with warmer highlights, and then details picked out with various silvers and bronze.

It feels weird, not using static grass on a base, but regular green flock looks great as grass at this scale.

Starting up my next commission, a Republique of France Armoured Clash army. These are to be painted the same colours as on the box. The turrets on the medium tanks and the Land Ships have been magnetized.

I was really impressed at the Mobile Airfield. At that scale, it would be almost the size of a city block! All based and ready to be painted.

I was merrily strolling around PAX, when I came across the the Soda Pop Miniatures. I was aware of Relic Knights before, but physically seeing them on the table top really sold it for me. That, and they are all plastic. My buddies and I bought into an army each: starter boxes plus another few supplement models. I got Black Diamond, friends got Shattered Sword and Noh Empire. We spent a weekend building our sets.

Since these will always be small armies, I decided to take the bases up a notch. Bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures; custom made bases using balsa wood, urban rubble from Gale Force Nine, and miniature bricks from Secret Weapon. My Suspect 7 and Iron Chef will be given water effects to complete their bases.
